FINCA LA ESTACADA, SPAIN
FINCA LA ESTACADA has 278 hectares of vines that are all grown close to the winery, the farthest are a distance of 7-10 kilometres.
Tempranillo grapes, of an average age of 25 years, Cabernet, Syrah, Merlot. Also, in recent years the vineyard has been extended with new varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cariñena, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
Vintage at FINCA LA ESTACADA is scheduled depending on grape varieties. It usually takes 2 months. Merlot grapes are picked at the end of August, and the Cabernet variety is harvested at the end of October. The optimum harvest moment is always observed.
The grapes picked are transferred to maceration tanks where fermentation takes place during seven or ten days. Maceration, i.e. the extraction of polyphenols from the grape skin to the juice, lasts between 10 and 30 days depending of the features of the grapes and the type of wine to be produced.
Wines in our aging range are poured directly into barrels. FINCA LA ESTACADA has 3,000 casks (French and American oak). Wines are stored in the barrels as long as necessary depending on the wine type to be produced and sold. They are later bottled and taken to bottle racks on the cellar.
Wines are tasted regularly at FINCA LA ESTACADA to determine their optimum marketing period.
Wine tasting is the ANALYSIS OF WINE WITH THE SENSES.
Our eyes analyse how clean and clear the wine is, its colour and intensity. By smelling the wine, we can enjoy its aromatic complexity.
And by tasting it, we discover its harmony, balance and long retronasal effect.
At Finca La Estacada, we work hard to try and produce clean, fluid wines with the right colour intensity as required by their characteristics.
When smelled, we want our wines to be complex and filled with well-defined structured aromas. In the mouth, our wines are round, harmonic and sticky, with lots of body and a long-lasting taste.
